A Garden office in Ascot - The Carlisle log cabin

Last week we completed our first Carlisle Cabin of 2013 in Lower Ascot.

A petite but beautifully formed 3.5m x 3m garden office. The Carlisle is new to our 2.5m high log cabin range.

Here's the Carlisle delivered onto the driveway and unpacked ready to be moved into the garden

the cabin kit is moved and the area cleared

The base is laid out -  a little under 3 tons of concrete needed here.

Tanalised bearers topped with damp-proof membrane

Cabin shell completed

First fix electrics and floor insulation

Roof  insulation between the rafters with a plasterboard finish - this is our normal 50mm Celotex insulated finish, allowing the rafter timbers to still be visible

The new consumer unit in place together with electric sockets, lighting and network - hard-wired Cat5e to the main house.

Doors and windows fitted and adjusted

Compact, tidy and ready for use - a haven of peace but a fully functional work space at the end of your garden.

Large Log Cabin (Garden room) in Bishops Stortford

A large 5m x 5m  lowered Kippen garden room.

Our customer ordered one of our lowered range of Log Cabins (2.5m) thus enabling a very generous 25m of cabin space (externally) and without the need for planning - again important to give a wide berth to your neighbouring boundary line - minimum of 1m.

An early start - and a long day spent getting the 25m sq base laid - it takes 6 tons of concrete for this one!

Still the main build day starts in glorious sunshine - and the 5m timbers are going together nicely

By 3pm we are at roof timbers and although the sun has gone were are doing pretty well - icy cold still

Start of the 3rd day and a deep frost welcomes us!  The cabin looks good and the customer is pleased that they went for the big one...

The last day - starts early - electrics (ably taken care of by our electrician Jon) flooring, network etc all need to be completed today....

Sensibly the customer chose our full options pack - full insulation (roof and floor), electrical sockets and lighting - together with a superb digital underfloor heating kit and topped with laminated flooring. As their growing children will primarily be using this room - then they have full control over the heating as the digital control panel is fully programmable for 7 days per week and the temperature settings are also controlled so its not on 'flat out' all the time either !

'Double' double sockets here provide plenty of options for the TV and games consoles and of course 'hard wired' Cat5e Internet access from the main house completes the installation.

Our largest cabin this year the 5m square - 2.5m High Kippen

Our customer was so delighted!

2.5m high Garden Office in Wantage - The Kippen 4m x 3m

A recent log cabin installation in the pretty town of Wantage

Wantage, notable as the birth place to King Alfred in 849

Our client is increasingly working from home, and needs quite, calm space - We can help there!

The clients' recent house move meant they had inherited some sheds - not the place to set up office, so they have to go!

One down - one to go !

much better, we've cleared some space and laid the base - poetry of sorts..

Finally the sun shines down upon us all - almost feels like...no I won't say it yet

Door frame and windows are in and its time for a sandwich

Roof joists in place and all is going well

Its been a super afternoon in shirt sleeves completing the roof - roof shingles look good don't they?, and they'll stay looking good for years. The manufacturers claim 'in excess of 30 years' !

Our electrician gets the consumer unit in place, together with the digital controller for the underfloor heating, double sockets and network Cat5e all in place. Armoured cable is run from the house to provide sockets, lighting and heat.

Its all ready for the desks and shelves - a blissful organised office space, clean bright and warm.

MARCH OFFER

There is still time if you are quick to catch a 25% discount on underfloor heating
see here for details - but HURRY time is running out!!

Thank you for looking in

New 2.5m High Jubilee Log Cabin

New to our range of 2.5m high log cabins we are pleased to introduce the Jubilee log cabin available in both 34mm and 44mm log thicknesses.

Prices start from £2100 including delivery and as usual there are a full list of installation options available.

The primary advantage of any of our 2.5m high log cabins is that they are designed to meet the planning rule which stipulates that any garden building within 2m of a boundary must not exceed 2.5m maximum height. Therefore these cabins may not need planning though it is always worth checking with your council as your property may be in a conservation area or national park where a planning application may still be necessary.

Log Cabins In The Rolling Hills Of Sutton Veny, Warminster

  in the Wylye Valley, Wiltshire

Hello again, we're much nearer to home this time ...

picture courtesy of Sutton Veny's blog site.

We are here to install a Kippen 4m x 4m cabin; again this is one of our popular 2.5m height range of log cabins, thus eliminating the need to apply for planning permission providing its not too close to your boundary.

Day 1

Lovely morning - chilly, but the sun was up

10 am - the spot chosen, the turf cut - ready to mix!

Well that was quick! - 2.30pm - just clean up and an early finish for once...

Day 2

Cabin kit arrives promptly and off we go - tanalised bearers down complete with DPM strip

Late lunch and we're almost upto the rafters - grey and 'numb finger' cold today

3.45pm the sun finally peeped through and we're nailing on the roof  T&G boards

Day 3

Midday and first fix electrics are complete - roof complete and trims to go on, we still have a trench to dig though...

The cabin construction is complete, now to get the electrics and network connected to the house...

Day 4

Yesterday, the customer realised that his new shed with its basic roof just doesn't cut the grade - could we, 'while you're here' sort that shed roof out please?

it seems about time then for another round of strong tea (2 sugars please) and flapjack to make an appearance!

Both shed and new cabin now have matching bitumen shingle roofs - the trench is filled - the electrician is busy 2nd fixing and fitting the new consumer unit into the cabin

2.40pm day 4 - There we have it - a superb new garden office

We were given much admiration by the steady stream of neighbours who just 'happened' to be passing by - I'm sure the numbers of people increased as the week went by...

many thanks for the copious tea Tim !

Next time its Wantage and the 'full Monty' with a lowered Liverpool cabin and a full options package

Iver Heath- Uxbridge

The 1st Cheltenham cabin of the year (Our best seller for 2012)

Not the most auspicious of starts I think you would agree! glad I didn't consider packing away my 'thermals' too soon...

Day 1

Mmm, yes that 'is' where the cabin is going to go! A 4x3m cabin never had a tighter fit

Day 2

Unfortunately the garden soon took on the look of a Glastonbury festival outfield

The Cheltenham log cabin not only exudes contemporary splendour but very fine joinery to boot...

close up's of the turn and tilt hardware for these lovely long windows - quality!

Day 3

Roof boards in place - Onduline roof panels over that and 50mm Xtratherm floor insulation completed; with plenty of tea, things are moving along well - still bitterly cold though

Day 4

The best of the front shots, gives decent view of the front windows, trims and double doors

Electric cables ready for the electrician to fit sockets & lights and connect the underfloor heating
Laminate flooring and plasterboard ceiling compliment the 'full options package

A sweep around inside, clean the glass and tidy the garden and we are complete, really not sure how the back of that cabin will get painted though! only hope they get on well with the neighbours...

Next week we are closer to 'home' in Sutton veny - Deepest Wiltshire
with a 4m x4m Kippen log cabin - drop by to check it out
